A little bit about myself and why I do what I do...
My name is Elisabeth-Christina Hrycyna.
I am a daughter, sister and mother.
I am of Italian and Ukrainian decent. I was born with the name Christina but it was changed to Elisabeth after I was adopted. I was adopted at the age of 8 days into a wonderful family. I grew up with an older brother and boy I can tell you that was fun lol. From being shot with a water gun in the face while sleeping to playing hide-and-go-seek (except there was no seek because I wasn't aware of the hiding lol). Having an older brother definitely kept me on high alert which in turn probably helped me pay really good attention to detail. I grew up with Ukrainian traditions as my father was born there.I loved this not only because of all the delicious food but because I got to celebrate two Christmases and two Easters every year.
Growing up was fun. I was taught to get dirty, learn new skills, to challenge myself, try new things and especially new foods. I enjoyed camping, playing soccer, running, learning to build things but mostly just being outside in the nature. Nature has always inspired me to create. Nature has taught me the importance of balance and harmony, and how to appreciate the little things in life. Usually once a day or whenever I feel a little down or in a funk, I go for a long walk in the woods.
This has always brought me peace and clarity.
I have a beautiful teenage daughter. I had my daughter young. Growing up at the same time I think is what gives us our special bond. Being her mom taught me so many things and made me the woman I am today. She is my biggest life blessing next to life itself. She is funny, kind, sweet, smart, pretty and has her head on straight. She is the perfect daughter (way better than I was lol) and is everything to me. She is my world and the reason I do everything I do.
I am a Graphic Designer and an Artist.
I have been a Graphic Designer for over 10 years. Design has always been my true passion whether it be art, interior design, landscape design, fashion design and decor design. I went to school at Yorkville University and studied
Graphic Design for Print and Web. I graduated in 2010. I have also completed an HTML course at Seneca College and have taken and interior design and landscape design course online. I am self taught in 3D modelling, design and rendering.
I have worked in a variety of industries from art to construction. The art industry was probably my favourite because I was in charge of making the artwork, picking the media to print it on and choosing the moudling(s) to frame it. I worked with many different Canadian artist such as Angelina Wrona and Christian Morrisseau. Christian was the only one I painted with and worked with side by side. We became friends. His nickname for me was "Broken Fish" (no idea why) and his name for one of my dogs was "the rabbit dog" (because she's smalI and furry). I spent a whole summer painting backgrounds with him and watching him paint. He was defiantly very inspirational as an artist. I am honoured that I was able to know such a beautiful person and that I had the privilege to work with him and develop a friendship. May he RIP.
I am creative and like to think outside the norm. I analyze and pay very close attention to detail. I believe that I have a strong competency to work collaboratively in a team; as well as independently, assume responsibilities, prioritize and meet multiple project deadlines. I am capable of executing a variety of design projects while able to complete deadlines.
Being a graphic designer means everything to me
because design is everything and everything is design.
